Belongs within: Hesperioidea.

The Coeliadinae are a group of fairly large skippers, the brightly coloured larvae of which feed on dicotyledons (Nielsen & Common 1991).

Characters (from Nielsen & Common 1991): Fairly large with short antennae, apical segment of labial palps long and slender and directed forwards, hind wing distinctly lobed, tornus sometimes produced, M2 tubular and arising nearer M1 than M3; male sometimes with sex-brand on fore wing.
