Passalozetes is a genus of oribatid mites found in Eurasia, Africa and the Americas, usually with a well-defined circular lenticulus on the notogaster.

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Prodorsum without lamellae or translamella; sensillus slightly dilated. Anterior part of notogaster usually with circular lenticulus; ten pairs of notogastral setae; three pairs of small areae porosae; pteromorphae absent. Four pairs of genital setae; one pair of aggenital setae; two pairs of anal setae; two pairs of adanal setae. Legs tridactyle or monodactyle.

Bipassalozetes is a genus of oribatid mites found in Eurasia, Africa and North America, with a well-defined circular lenticulus on the notogaster and bidactylous legs.

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Sensillus setiform. Anterior part of notogaster with circular lenticulus; ten pairs of notogastral setae; three pairs of small areae porosae. Genital plates with four pairs of setae; aggenital setae present. Legs bidactyle.

The Hemileiidae are a group of oripodoid mites with a sacculate octotaxic system and lacking pteromorphs (Balogh & Balogh 1992).

The subgenus Tuberemaeus of the genus Hemileius is a pantropical group of ornamented oribatid mites.

Notogaster foveolate, punctate or reticulate; with ten or fourteen pairs of distinct setae; four pairs of sacculi; pteromorphae absent. The type subgenus of the genus Hemileius is a group of oribatid mites found in Eurasia, Australia and the Americas (Subías 2004).

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Prodorsum with lamellae present, translamella absent; sensillus with fusiform end. Dorsosejugal suture arched. Notogaster smooth, oval, with ten pairs of distinct setae; four pairs of sacculi; pteromorphae absent. Four pairs of genital setae; one pair of aggenital setae; two pairs of anal setae; three pairs of adanal setae. Legs tridactyle.

The type subgenus of the genus Perscheloribates is a pantropical and subtropical group of oribatid mites (Subías 2004).

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992, as Perscheloribates + Scheloribatella + Ischeloribates): Rostrum rounded; rostral setae removed from each other, on lateral part of prodorsum; prodorsum with lamellae present, translamella absent, prolamellar ridge present or absent. Notogaster with ten pairs of setae, setae short or represented only by alveoli; four pairs of sacculi; pteromorphae immovable. Four pairs of genital setae; one pair of aggenital setae; two pairs of anal setae; three pairs of adanal setae; fissures iad adanal. Legs monodactyle.

Notogaster with fourteen pairs of setae; setae c1 originating near dorsosejugal suture; four pairs of sacculi; pteromorphae movable. Zetomotrichidae

Belongs within: Oripodoidea.

The Zetomotrichidae are a group of oribatid mites in which the fourth pair of legs is often enlarged for jumping. Members of the family bear a prominent humeral process bearing seta Z1. The notogaster lacks porose areas but there are numerous scattered refracting micropores (Lee & Pajak 1987).

The Mochlozetidae are a pantropical and subtropical group of arboreal oribatid mites.

Characters (from Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009): Length: 500–800 µm. Prodorsum fused to notogaster; distinct notch present antiaxially on chelicerae; tutorium present. Notogaster without conspicuous setae, three pairs of short setae in p row and seven pairs of alveoli; four or more pairs of porose areas, their limits often well defined by internally thickened border, porose areas sometimes sexually dimorphic; pteromorphs immovable.

Caloppiidae

The Caloppiidae are a group of heavily ornamented oribatid mites found in the Old World tropics.

Characters (from Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009): Length 350–850 µm. Prodorsum with translamella present. Notogaster with integument strongly foveate; notogastral setae strongly barbed to plumose; octotaxic system with five pairs of saccules; pteromorphs absent. Two pairs of adanal setae.

The type subgenus of the genus Oribatula is a cosmopolitan group of oribatid mites, generally distinguished from members of the subgenus Zygoribatula by the absence of a translamella on the prodorsum (Lee 1992).

Characters (from Lee 1992): Twelve to fourteen pairs of short, smooth or weakly ciliate hysteronotal setae. Humeral setae (Z1, S1) similar in size and shape to other hysteronotal setae (rarely Z1 stouter, but still subequal in length). Proteronotum without translamella, lamella at least lamellate anteriorly (never just costate or lineate), in subparallel pair, medium size or long, distance between lamellar seta z1 and dorsosejugal furrow greater than 1.5× distance between interlamellar seta j2 and bothridium of sensory seta z2. Genital shield with four pairs of setae.
