The Neoseiulini are a group of mostly relatively conservative predatory mites, most of which are placed in the large genus Neoseiulus (Chant & McMurtry 2003).

Characters (from Chant & McMurtry 2003): Dorsal shield longer than wide; posterior margin rounded, without marked indentation at level of seta S5; usually but not always sculptured/ reticulated/ imbricated. Lateral dorsal setae other than Z5 and sometimes Z4 approximately subequal, without great disparities in length; setae z2 and z4 never, and dorsocentral setae usually not, minute; dorsal setae usually setiform, at most lightly serrated; setae j5, J2, Z1, S4 and S5 always present; seta r3 and usually R1 inserted on lateral integument of female. Female sternal shield usually longer than wide, with posterior margin usually concave or straight, often reticulated or striated; seta St3 usually inserted on shield, occasionally inserted on separate platelet. Female genital shield relatively narrow, posteriorly truncate, with genital seta, sometimes reticulated; usually about the same width as ventrianal shield. Female ventrianal shield usually longer than wide, sometimes extremely so; usually with three pairs of preanal setae, JV1, JV2 and JV3, arranged in broad triangular pattern, and pair of pores widely or narrowly spaced; never vase-shaped; caudoventral area around shield usually with setae JV4, JV5, ZV1 and ZV3. Extensive sexual dimorphism in caudoventral setation present. Peritreme usually extending to level of setae j1/j3, occasionally shorter; peritremal shield narrow, fused anteriorly with dorsal shield, without ecta strip. Chelicera of normal size; fixed digit of female chelicera usually with five or fewer teeth or, if multidentate, with teeth evenly distributed along distal two-thirds of fixed digit; movable digit with 0-3 teeth, most commonly one.
