Caloppiidae

Belongs within: Oripodoidea.

The Caloppiidae are a group of heavily ornamented oribatid mites found in the Old World tropics.

Characters (from Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009): Length 350–850 µm. Prodorsum with translamella present. Notogaster with integument strongly foveate; notogastral setae strongly barbed to plumose; octotaxic system with five pairs of saccules; pteromorphs absent. Two pairs of adanal setae.
