Belongs within: Nectariniidae.

Dicaeum is a genus of flowerpeckers found in southern Asia and Australasia. Most species are brightly coloured, with short, slightly down-curved bills and tubular tongues, and feed on fruit, nectar and small insects.

Characters (from Cheke et al. 2001): Bill short and triangular, of variable thickness and curvature, with finely serrated edges; nostrils exposed, but partly covered by a membrane; rictal bristles short. Wing usually with outermost primary short.
