Tylothrips is a genus of thrips found primarily in the New World, characterised by the present of a pair of long expanded ventrolateral setae on each of the meso- and metathorax (Mound & Marullo 1996).
Characters (from Mound & Marullo 1996): Head smooth to weakly reticulate; maxillary stylets wide apart in head; meso- and metathorax each with one pair of long and apically expanded setae that are longer than the apical width of the tibiae.
