Acaroceras (Acaroceras)

Belongs within: Microzetidae.

The type subgenus of the genus Acaroceras is a Neotropical group of oribatid mites with an unpaired apophysis in the interlamellar region.

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Chelicerae with small corniculi. Prodorsum with lamellae leaving interlamellar region and part of rostral region uncovered; unpaired interlamellar apophysis present, emerging from base of interlamellar region; interlamellar setae long, originating on lamellae proper; sensillus directed forward, filiform, long. Pteromorphae immovable, long. Apodemata IV thickened.
