Trimalaconothrus is a cosmopolitan genus of oribatid mites characterised by a covering of birefringent cerotegument together with tridactyl legs.
Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992, as Trimalaconothrus + Zeanothrus + Fossonothrus): Bothridial sensillus absent. Cerotegument birefringent, porose. Opisthosomal gland absent. Epimeral setal formula 3-1-3-3 or 3-2-3-3. Genital and anal plates of macropyline type, large, occupying entire ventral side posterior to epimeres; four to twelve pairs of genital setae; aggenital setae absent; one pair of anal setae; three pairs of adanal setae. Legs with three tarsal claws.
