Malaconothrus

Malaconothrus is a cosmopolitan genus of oribatid mites found in wet habitats such as peatlands, streams and lakes (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009).

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Rostral setae widely separated. Bothridial sensillus absent. Epimeral setal formula 3-1-3-3 or 2-1-3-2. Genital and anal plates of macropyline type, large, occupying entire ventral side posterior to epimeres; four to six pairs of genital setae; aggenital setae absent; one pair of anal setae or anal setae absent; three pairs of adanal setae. Legs monodactyle.
