Heminothrus is a genus of oribatid mites in which the posterior margin of the notogaster bears distinct seta-carrying protuberances.

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Bothridial sensillus present. Median part of notogaster slightly concave; posteromarginal setae arising on apophyses. Epimeral setal formula 3-1-3-3 or 2-1-3-3. Genital and anal plates of macropyline type, large, occupying entire ventral side posterior to epimeres; genital plates without transverse suture, nine to 23 pairs of genital setae; two pairs of aggenital setae; two pairs of anal setae; three pairs of adanal setae. Legs with one tarsal claw.
