Belongs within: Ostracoda.
The Bairdiocyprididae are a group of ostracods known from the mid-Ordovician to the mid-Late Carboniferous (Whatley et al. 1993).
Characters (from Benson et al. 1961): Convex-backed ostracodes of bythocypridid shapes, mostly without ornamentation and sculpturing; left valve larger, with overlap and overreach of left valve over right; lacking separated calcified inner lamellae but with short hinges and contact margins simply ridged and grooved in platycopine fashion; adductor muscle scars circular and consisting of numerous closely grouped spots; sexual dimorphism mostly slight or unknown.
