Belongs within: Analgoidea.

The Alloptidae are a group of ectoparasitic mites specialised for life on the flight and covert feathers of aquatic birds (Mironov 2007).

Synapomorphies (from Mironov 2007): Subhmeral seta c3 posterior to humeral seta cp. Central sclerite of ambulacral disc an inverted T or Y. Male with genital apodemes well developed. Female with opisthosoma bilobate; hysteronotal shield completely covering posterior end of opisthosoma.
