Belongs within: Stygnidae.

Stygnus is a genus of short-legged harvestmen found in tropical South America.

Characters (from Pinto-da-Rocha 1997): Dorsal scute slightly wider at groove III. Cephalothorax with one central spine. Eye mounds smooth. Area I divided by median groove; III with two spines. Free tergite III with two tubercles larger than others. Tarsal process present. Scopula usually absent (present in S. gertschi). Pedipalpal femur large; basal sockets at apex of tibia normal. Penis ventral plate with lateral margins parallel; three, rarely four, pairs of distal (wide and large) and three or four basal pairs of setae present; dorsal process present.
