The Chitinozoa are a group of flask-shaped, organic-walled microfossils known from the mid-Palaeozoic. The affinities of chitinozoans are uncertain; it has been suggested that they may represent the eggs of invertebrates such as worms or mollusks rather than mature, independent organisms.
