Belongs within: Ichneumonoidea.
The Doryctinae are a cosmopolitan group of braconid wasps with ectoparasitic larvae, most commonly on concealed Coleoptera larvae. The Neotropical Ypsistocerini, distinguished from other tribes by an enlarged telotarsus, are known from termite nests but their biology is otherwise unknown (Achterberg 1993).
Characters (from Achterberg 1993): Maxillary palp with six segments; hypoclypeal depression deep and wide, middle of apparent ventral margin of clypeus distinctly above upper level of mandibular bases, labrum concave; eyes wider than base of mandible; posterior flange of propleuron present, largely dorsally situated; fore tibia often with row of stout pegs or spines, at most as long as about six times their length; hind coxa often angulate anteroventrally, frequently with a ventral tubercle; ovipositor dorsally nearly always with double nodus subapically.
