Belongs within: Circumdehiscentiae.

Banksinoma is a genus of oribatid mites found in Eurasia and the Americas, characterised by strongly convergent costulae on the prodorsum. The most widespread species, B. lanceolata, is found over the greater part of the Holarctic region as well as in Hawaii. Banksinoma setosa is found in northeastern Asia (Siberia) and in Canada. Banksinoma spinifera is found from eastern Canada to Argentina (Subías 2004).

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Prodorsum with strongly convergent costulae, shorter than half length of prodorsum, almost meeting apically or with some minute tubercles or spines between apices. Apodemata III absent. Genital plates large, near each other, with six pairs of setae.
