Coleolus tenuicinctus, copyright Alan Goldstein.

Belongs within: Animalia.

The Coleoloidae are a group of elongate tubular shells of uncertain affinities known from the Lower Cambrian to the Carboniferous (Fisher 1962).

Characters (from Fisher 1962; Yochelson & Hlavin 1985): Tubuliform calcium-carbonate shells, extremely elongate-conical, almost cylindrical, commonly slightly curved toward apex; cross section circular to elliptical; comparatively thin-walled; laminated, interior surface smooth. Exterior surface smooth or with oblique or longitudinal ornamentation. Opercula and septa unknown. Length 0.5–75 mm; diameter 0.5–2.5 mm at aperture.
