Belongs within: Chalcidoidea.
The Diparinae are a group of chalcidoid wasps found primarily in leaf litter. Many species are strongly sexually dimorphic: males are usually macropterous, but females may be brachypterous or apterous (Desjardins 2007).
Characters (from Bouček 1988, Desjardins 2007): Antenna 13-segmented. Scutellum varied, but never smooth and convex. Metacoxa inserted unusually high, usually with transverse striations on posterior margin. Gastral tergite 1 usually expanded to cover at least half of metasoma. Cercal brush present. Females often apterous or brachypterous.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephen. It actually surprises me how little there is available online for some chalcidoid groups, considering what interesting-looking animals they can be.
