Belongs within: Orthopteroidea.
The Ampelipteridae is a group of insects that has been recognised from the Middle Carboniferous to the Early Permian of Eurasia and North America, united by the presence of a branched CuP (Rasnitsyn 2002). Rasnitsyn (2002) classified the Ampelipteridae as basal members of the Paraneoptera in the Hypoperlida, but Béthoux & Nel (2002) regarded at least some ampelipterids as Polyneoptera.
