The Hemicorduliidae, round-winged emeralds, are a group of small to medium-sized dragonflies most commonly black and yellow in coloration (Theischinger & Hawking 2006).
Characters (from Theischinger & Hawking 2006): Forewing with hypertriangles generally free; bridge crossvein aligned with subnodus. Males with tibial keels. Larvae with ladle-shaped labium with premental and palpal setae, well-developed palpal dentations bearing groups of setae; prementum with distinct ventro-basal midline or groove; legs long; abdominal segment 10 somewhat sunken into segment 9.
