Adraneothrips is a genus of small, weakly sclerotised fungus-feeding thrips.
Characters (from Mound & Marullo 1996): Antennae eight-segmented, median segments often bicoloured, segment III with two or three sense cones, segment IV with three or four; pronotum usually with five pairs of capitate setae, epimeral sutures complete; basantra absent, mesopraesternum eroded to two lateral triangles; fore tarsus of female without a tooth; forewings narrow with few duplicated cilia, rarely micropterous; metathoracic sternopleural sutures not developed; pelta usually longer than wide; tergites II to VI commonly with both lateral sutures visible in dorsal view; B1 setae on IX usually blunt.
