Belongs within: Procellariidae.
Pterodroma, the gadfly petrels, is a cosmopolitan genus of fast-flying petrels, mostly dark above and light below in coloration, with short, sturdy bills. Some relatively large species, such as the great-winged petrel P. macroptera, are uniformly dark in coloration.
