Parakalummidae

Belongs within: Oripodoidea.

The Parakalummidae are a group of oribatid mites with large auriculate pteromorphs like those found in Galumnidae, from with they differ in the presence of narrow lamellae on the prodorsum. The octotaxic system is expressed as areae porosae in species of the genus Sandenia and sacculi in Neoribates (Balogh & Balogh 1992).

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Prodorsum with narrow true lamellae. Pteromorphae large, auriculate, movable, without setae.
