Licnodamaeidae

Belongs within: Circumdehiscentiae.

The Licnodamaeidae are a small group of uncertain circumscription of somewhat flat-bodied oribatid mites.

Characters (from Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009): Length 190–420 µm. Prodorsum without true lamellae; bothridial seta flat, leaf-shaped; exobothridial seta present. Notogaster flat-topped and elliptical; scalps absent; octotaxic system absent; with nine or ten pairs of setae; notogastral lyrifissures long, integument reticulate or smooth, without pair of tubercles lateroposteriorly; setae p2 and p3 positioned ventrally. Epimeral setal formula 3-1-3-3. Femora with porose area; femur I with five setae; trochanter IV with one seta; femur IV with three setae.
