Catocalinae

Grammodes geometrica, from here.

Belongs within: Macrolepidoptera.
Contains: Bastilla, Buzara.

The Catocalinae is a highly diverse group of moths characterised by the presence of an unscaled region on the lower clyeofrons (Moths of Borneo).

Synapomorphies (from Reza Zahiri): Juxta is shaped like an inverted Y, with anterior (ventral) ends heavily fused with sacculus; ostium bursae positioned variably but opening has moved anteriorly onto 7th abdominal segment rather than between 7th and 8th segments, with partial fusion between segments 7 and 8.
